When is Clopexagrel Tablet prescribed for?
Clopexagrel Tablet is prescribed for preventing blood clots (thrombi) forming in hardened blood vessels (arteries), a process known as atherothrombosis, which can lead to atherothrombotic events as follows:
Recent MI, Recent Stroke or Established Peripheral Arterial Disease and Acute Coronary Syndrome.

How should you take Clopexagrel Tablet?

  • Recent MI, Recent Stroke, or Established Peripheral Arterial Disease, the recommended daily dose of Clopexagrel75 mg is once daily.
  • Acute Coronary Syndrome
    • For patients with non-ST-segment elevation acute coronary syndrome (unstable angina/non-Q-wave MI),Clopexagrel Tablet should be initiated with a single 300-mg loading dose and then continued at 75 mg once daily. Aspirin (75 mg-325 mg once daily) should be initiated and continued in combination with Clopexagrel Tablet.
    • For patients with ST-segment elevation acute myocardial infarction, the recommended dose of Clopexagrel Tablet is 75 mg once daily, administered in combination with aspirin, with or without thrombolytic.

When you should not take Clopexagrel Tablet?

  • Hypersensitivity to either the active ingredient or any of other ingredients.
  • If you have a medical condition that is currently causing bleeding such as a stomach ulcer or bleeding within the brain.
  • If you suffer from severe liver disease.
  • If you are breast -feeding.

Possible Side Effects with Clopexagrel 
The most common side effect reported with Clopexagrel is bleeding such as bruising, haematoma, nose bleed, blood in the urine. Bleeding in the stomach or bowels, in a small number of cases, bleeding in the eye, inside the head, the lung or the joints has also been reported.
The Other side effects reported with Clopexagrel are:

  • Diarrhoea, abdominal pain, constipation, vomiting, nausea, indigestion or heartburn, inflammation in oral lining (stomatitis).
  • Vertigo, Headache, decrease in blood pressure, confusion, hallucinations.
  • Skin disorders such as: rashes and itching, swelling in the mouth, blisters of the skins, generalised allergic reactions.
  • Joint pain, muscular pain, fever, taste disorders.
  • Breathing difficulties sometimes associated with cough.

Possible Drug interaction with Clopexagrel Tablet:
Some other medicines may influence the use of Clopexagrel Tablet or vice versa. 
For example, Clopexagrel Tablet increases the anti-clot effect of aspirin, so contact your doctor or pharmacist if you are taking or have recently taken any other medicines, even those not prescribed. 
Examples for the drugs that may interact with Clopexagrel​ Tablet:

  • Use of oral anticoagulants (medicines used to reduce blood clotting)
  • Use of non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug, usually used to treat painful and/or inflammatory conditions of muscle or joints, or if you take heparin or any other medicine used to reduce blood clotting, or if you take a proton pump inhibitor (e.g. omeprazole) for upset stomach.
  • If you have experienced severe chest pain (unstable angina or heart attack), you may be prescribed Clopexagrel in combination with acetylsalicylic acid, a substance present in many medicines used to relieve pain and lower fever. An occasional use of acetylsalicylic acid (no more than 1,000 mg in any 24 hour period) should generally not cause a problem, but prolonged use in other circumstances should be discussed with your doctor

Special information if you are pregnant or breastfeeding
If you are pregnant or suspect that you are pregnant, you should tell your doctor or your pharmacist before taking Clopexagrel Tablet. If you become pregnant while taking ClopexagrelTablet, consult your doctor immediately.
If you are a mother breast-feeding stop breastfeeding while taking Clopexagrel Tablet as it appears in the breast milk.
